Between Harlem and Me, 2022, Digital archival prints
Between Harlem and Me" is a series of images from my latest body of work. This montage combines my photography with archival images from the Schomburg Center, creating a layered narrative. Since the 1990s, I have been documenting the changes and effects of gentrification in my Harlem community. My work seeks to normalize Black and Brown life in America, free from the constraints of the white gaze. Through my lens, I capture my community as I experience it, bridging its past and present while fostering a dialogue with its future.
