Uptown Pararde

Uptown Parade in Harlem was a vibrant photo installation commissioned by Uber Eats and Urban Umbrella, celebrating the energy and diversity of my Harlem community. I took these images at the largest African American day parade in the country, held annually in Harlem. Due to COVID, the parade was canceled, so I made this installation on a main thoroughfare to bring the parade to the community. Through the series, I capture the daily rhythm, pride, and resilience defining Harlem’s streets, parades, chance encounters, and moments of joy. I honor the people and businesses that make Uptown dynamic, highlighting Black creativity and neighborhood spirit. Presenting this work publicly transforms spaces, inviting passersby to see themselves reflected. Partnering with community organizations ensures my work remains accessible and relevant. Uptown Parade is my tribute to Harlem’s past, present, and future, a love letter to the neighborhood and an invitation to uplift its everyday beauty.
